Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet operations. The Fleet Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the preventative maintenance and repairs are performed with minimal downtime and impact to production. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing, planning, organizing, and coordinating maintenance employee activities for the assigned locations. This role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Compensation: $95,000 - $105,000 DOE

Responsibilities

  • Oversee/perform timely repair and preventive maintenance schedules for equipment including concrete trucks, dump trucks and loaders.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints and repair manuals.
  • Provide guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation function.
  • SAP responsibilities, purchase order approvals and maintenance of work orders
  • Oversee the maintenance shops inventory to ensure the equipment and parts are always available.
  • Oversee all inspections Including DOT annual, NRMCA fleet certification, maintenance records and training records.
  • Lead in planning, fabrication, and completion of shop improvements and projects.
  • Ensure high quality of service to all customers.
  • Responsible for reliable operation of all equipment and the efficient use of labor and facilities to optimize the cost of the operations.
  • Supervise mechanics in maintenance shop, which includes coaching, counseling, training and corrective actions.
  • Work with Human Resources in decisions of hiring, terminations, evaluations, promotions, etc.
  • Set high standards for others in management effectiveness, leadership style, communication, and integrity.
  • Keep up with technology such as engines, emission systems, transmissions, electrical, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local labor, company safety policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions and violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries or near misses and prepare reports of findings.
  • Develop an operating budget; track operating costs and look for ways to improve costs without sacrificing safety or service.
  • Develop and implement successful training programs for shop personnel.
  • Train and supervise fleet staff, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Fleet Manager.
  • Solid mechanical/control system skills and the ability to train others.
  • Ability to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in using fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating performance metrics and making data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to develop and cost justify a capital budget and the ability to achieve departmental efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage others, develop and mentor shop personnel and provide effective decision support through information.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with drivers, vendors, and management.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (forklift, manlift, front-end loader, boom truck, crane).

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Work a variety of hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends) indoors and outdoors, within an office and industrial setting. Availability in assisting with any maintenance or breakdown projects. Working in confined spaces, welding, cutting, ability to lift over 50 lbs., climb up to elevations of 65 ft.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check.
