Position Summary:
Smokin Oaks Organic Farms is seeking a hardworking and dependable General Laborer to support daily farm operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining the health of our livestock, crops, and facilities through hands-on work in a variety of farm tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily livestock care, including feeding, watering, and checking the health of animals.
- Perform basic farm maintenance such as repairing fences, cleaning barns, and maintaining pens and pastures.
- Operate small farm equipment and tools such as mowers, weed trimmers, and basic tractors.
- Load and unload supplies such as feed, hay, and fencing materials.
- Help with planting, harvesting, and maintaining crops as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of barns, storage areas, and workspaces.
- Follow all farm safety rules and use proper protective equipment.
- Assist with general construction projects and seasonal farm tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Farm Manager.
Qualifications:
- Prior farm, ranch, landscaping, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
- Experience in livestock husbandry and farm operations.
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to take direction.
Preferred Skills:
- Basic mechanical or carpentry skills.
- Experience operating tractors or other light farm equipment (a plus).
- Knowledge of livestock (cattle, hogs, poultry) a bonus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor farm and ranch setting.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, animal manure, farm chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
- Work hours may vary based on the season and farm needs, including occasional weekends.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $15.87 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
