Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Safety Manager to ensuring the implementation of Safety and Health policies and procedures on jobsites to ensure compliance with OSHA 1926, and any state and local regulations. The Assistant Safety Manager should be able to attain the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification no more than 2 years from joining the team. Training will be provided for growth and development.
Duties
- Conduct and document routine safety walk-through inspections of jobsites ranging from small to medium sized projects independently.
- Conduct incident investigations for injuries, property damage and near misses and completing incident investigation reports.
- Lead and conduct safety pre-construction meetings with project team for subcontractors prior to mobilization onsite.
- Conduct monthly safety stand-downs on jobsites to include all subcontractors. · Review subcontractor’s Job Hazard Analysis/Activity Hazard Analysis and safety work plans to ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements. ·
- Assist subcontractors in identifying hazards and suggesting corrective actions for high hazard activities.
- Assist in conducting Safety training on safety topics to project teams.
- Assist subcontractors to develop a comprehensive satisfactory level of safety compliance on jobsites. ·
- Identify special personal protective equipment needs for projects independently. · Facilitate incident review meetings with the project team and subcontractors. ·
- Track leading and lagging indicators on projects to understand the safety trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
- Minimum of 4 years hands on experience in construction in a Safety position
- OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certification
- Safety Trained Supervisor Certification is a plus
- Possess current First aid, CPR certification.
- English is the preferred language but being bilingual is a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, subcontractors, and clients.
- Technical safety knowledge relating to fall protection, excavation, concrete work and cranes in a construction environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA Table 1 respirasilica requirement.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and interact effectively at all levels within the organization.
- MS Office- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook experience.
PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS
- Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending. The employee must occasionally lift/carry/move up to 30lbs.
- Employee is responsible to maintain fitness-for-duty for this position and able to perform essential tasks in a safe and effective manner.
- Work locations may vary i.e. outdoor with changing weather conditions or interior work in a controlled environment.
