SMX is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support our Global Defense Business Unit in the SMX Kapolei office in Oahu Hawaii. The HR Generalist will report to the Global Defense HR Director and will provide comprehensive human resources support for the employees and daily operations of the Kapolei Global Defense team. The candidate must be able to work independently, must be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment and be able to quickly adapt to change. The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of human resource systems, data, processes, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will provide customer-focused and effective human resource support while working closely with various departments across the organization to enable achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to onboarding/offboarding procedures, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
- Assists employees and managers via SMX's ticketing system.
- Provides HR guidance and support to employees deployed across various global locations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, U.S. government contracting requirements and company policies.
- Works through complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
- Serves as primary HR contact for field-based employees and managers, addressing unique challenges of deployed employees
- Assists with assigning and managing performance management tasks.
- Creates/prepares reports and analysis using the HR information systems, and other software, as required.
- Ensures legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required.
- Participates in audits, compliance reporting, and other employee related inquiries.
- Monitors employee morale and company culture.
- Supports team members when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience required.
- Involvement with disputes/investigations (employee relations) is necessary.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software systems.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems (ADP).
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience in government contracting strongly preferred
- US citizenship required for work under DoD contracts.
