The Circulation Manager or Adult Services Librarian assigns work and supervises the Library Aide. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include patron confidentiality standards and city and library policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

Job Summary
This position provides assistance for assigned library operations, programs, and services.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists with the operation of the Circulation and Adult Services Desks.
- Checks materials in and out.
- Instructs patrons how to use self-check machines and library app.
- Collects overdue fines and replacement fees; removes fine data from patron accounts.
- Registers new patrons; updates patron information.
- Assists patrons in the use of computers and other library equipment.
- Answers phones and provides information and assistance.
- Makes copies and scans items.
- Retrieves returned items from book drop; identifies and shelves reserved books; arranges books on book carts for shelving.
- Shelves materials in proper orders, including books, audio-visual materials, and other library materials.
- Opens and closes facility.
- Assists patrons in locating materials.
- Reserves materials for patrons.
- Processes purchases or donated materials.
- Performs opening and closing procedures.
- Reviews and ensures the accuracy of call numbers, titles, spine labels, and shelf locations.
- Coordinates the repair or replacement of damaged materials.
- Sorts incoming mail and records receipts of new magazines and newspapers.
- Monitors supply inventory and initiates requests for new or replacement materials.
- Performs basic maintenance of computer systems and office equipment.
- Schedules and reserves proctoring services and meeting/conference rooms.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of public library policies, procedures, programs, and services.
- Knowledge of patron services principles.
- Knowledge of library computers and software systems.
- Skill in the use of computer automated library catalog and circulation systems.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in the operation of computers and general office machines.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Less than one year of related experience required.
- Must be flexible and able to work day, evening and weekend hours.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and credit check.
