Key Responsibilities for Shipping Lead include:
- Supporting department supervisors in the coordination of activities in the shipping department
- Creating an environment that supports workflow, sustains standard work, and facilitates continuous improvement of all shipping operations
- Mentoring, guiding, and motivating other shipping team members
- Preparing skids and cartons for shipment, including organizing, labeling, and packaging
- Organizing stock and merchandise within the warehouse by properly unboxing and storing goods in their designated location
- Preparing and maintaining appropriate documentation for shipping activities
- Conducting visual inspections, focusing on product quality, safety, team building, and effective waste management
The ideal candidate must demonstrate:
- Ability to provide leadership, direction, training, and growth opportunities for staff
- Effective time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills
- Solid computer skills, including the ability to learn new computer systems, such as UPS software
- Good math, reading, and writing skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people and personalities
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries of internal customers
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Required: Can perform heavy work, lifting up to 60 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Required: Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language
- Required: Experience with shipping and receiving operations, utilizing warehouse equipment such as forklift and electric pallet jack
- Required: Experience with UPS and/or FedEx software
- A Plus: Experience working lean manufacturing and BRC quality systems
