- This is an onsite role (5 days), based out of Berkeley Heights - NJ
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe System Programmer to join our dynamic DevSecOps modernization team. The ideal candidate needs to have experience of installing software and “operating system updates” in z/OS environment, also maintaining the health of Cobol applications running within the z/OS environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install, customize and maintain the z/OS operating system and related software running on ZD&T
- Plan and execute software upgrades
- Perform installation-specific customization tasks to tailor the system to the organization's needs
- Integrate new products with existing applications and user procedures
- Automate routine operations to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Write and run installation jobs and scripts
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in mainframe z/OS maintenance and support
- Ability for self-motivation, independence in learning, reliability, dedication, high-energy, problem solving and good people skills
- Ability to work and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to translate and communicate technical-speak into well written and spoken non-technical terms
- Ability to work with a culturally and geographically diverse global team
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on IBM’s ZD&T
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- COBOL, REXX, or other Mainframe related programming/scripting languages
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
