SNAP is seeking a qualified individual for a Human Resource Specialist position to work in SNAPs Mission Support Core.
Starting salary for this position is $22.90-$25.65 per hour DOE
Full salary range is $22.90-$36.17 per hour

Position Summary: Supports HR activities and programs; such as staffing, compensation, benefits, training and safety. Answer employee questions about human resources policies and procedures. Serve as lead in absence of Human Resources Coordinator.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing and submitting all paperwork pertaining to new hires, new hire orientation and benefit enrollment to HR Coordinator.
- Responsible for processing, tracking, and responding to L&I, OSHA, accident, and incident reports.
- Administers enrolments for staff retirement program with VOYA.
- Assist Supervisors with dispute resolution and performance counseling processes.
- Be a source of information for managers and supervisors on all aspects of Human Resources.
- Serve as chair of SNAP Safety Committee and ensure regular updates of Employment and safety posters at all SNAP office locations.
- Supports agency equity efforts, including monitoring, evaluating, and researching policies and procedures around equity related to SNAP personnel and compensation practices.
- Administers enrolments for staff retirement program with VOYA.
- When requested, participate in external sourcing through job fairs, career fairs and other community related functions.
- Responsible for maintaining, reviewing updates, performing data integrity checks, and relaying relevant information and updates related to SNAPs Human Resources Information System (Paycom).
- Responsible for assisting, when necessary, with the recruitment, selection and orientation of staff.
- Serve as backup to the HR Coordinator in posting job openings and entering new hires into Paycom.
- Assist, when requested, in creating job descriptions and policy manuals, update and implement as changes occur.
- Serve as backup and fills in when necessary with scheduling interviews, conducting background and reference checks, completing employment verifications, updating employee personnel files, updating employment tracker, and administering employee recognition programs.
- Practice and role model customer service excellence.
- Works with coworkers and volunteers to promote a positive, respectful, and productive working environment, while protecting client confidentiality and dignity.
- Within the context of the stated principle job duties, serve as an ambassador of SNAPs mission and values.
- Completes assigned projects and performs related duties as needed or situation dictates.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent and four years experience in a social services setting with experience fulfilling human resources duties. OR an AA degree and 2 years experience in a social services setting with experience fulfilling human resources duties. OR a Bachelors degree and one year experience in a social services setting with experience fulfilling human resources duties.
- Preferred: Bachelors degree and two years human resources position experience position, preferably in a social service setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database (preferably Salesforce and Paycom); aptitude and ability to learn related technical skills
- General office skills, including working with multi-line phone system, operation of office machines, filing, and basic bookkeeping
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment with a diverse population
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively work in an open, fast-paced, high-stress setting with frequent interruptions
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Familiarity with Federal and States programs, laws and regulations available to and pertaining to employees.
- Ability to communicate confidently, safely, and effectively with people in crisis situations
- Good planning and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and communicate questions and concerns
- Ability to work independently, using initiative and judgment to resolve problems and ensure workflow is appropriately addressed in a timely manner
- Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income households, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information
Training and Certifications
- PHR or comparable human resources certification preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
Work is conducted in an office environment, which can be highly stressful at times. Nature of this position involves working with a variety of staff to provide mission support
