What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Coordinator/Dog Handler position at Sniff Dog Hotel?
Sniff Dog Hotel is a boutique dog hotel and daycare in Portland and we are looking for someone amazing to join our Front Desk & Dog Handling teams!
At the Front Desk, you are the first contact with our clients the moment they step into our lobby. This is a challenging and fast-paced position that requires a great deal of multi-tasking. You're juggling in-person customers, phone calls and running pups to their accommodations. You are also expected to help throughout the hotel with things like completing services for our boarding guests and overseeing playgroups.
There will also be expectation to cover Dog Handling shifts as well. Supervising playgroups and performing other services for our dog guests will be the main responsibility. There will also be other general tasks to ensure our dog guests needs are being met in our care.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine upbeat personality that's always on and confident. Conversations are effortless and your attention to detail is meticulous. This position will provide you endless dogs to pet and love a team who works hard and always has your back.

- Prior dog experience preferred with basic understanding of dog body language and handling skills

- Desire to learn more about dog behavior and training

- Strength and stamina to keep up with active dogs of all sizes
- Strong desire to keep things clean
Can do:
- Communicate (with verbal and tech) clearly
- Good with a keyboard (computer, not piano)
- Be flexible and work weekends and major holidays as needed.
- Lift up to 30 lb.
- Run pup guests up and down stairwells.
- Assist with other dog handling responsibilities such as feeding, potty breaks, supervising play groups and other services as needed.
Other Job Responsibilities when covering Dog Handling shifts:
- Lead private and group dog services
- Supervise our pup guests with care - 10 dogs in a group setting
- Assist in feeding, changing out water's and giving potty breaks daily to all of our our pup guests
- Uphold a high-level of customer service when interacting with clients
- Always maintaining our high standards for the safety and comfort of all dogs & clients
- Assist in maintaining our squeaky-clean facility.
- Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
