Job Summary: Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, temporary/seasonal grounds workers will perform a variety of duties relating to the upkeep of buildings/grounds. Duties performed will vary depending on area of assignment.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Assists with lawn care and maintenance. May include mowing, edging, trimming hedges, applying fertilizers or pesticides.
• Assists with landscaping, including planting, weeding, mulching, maintaining flower beds and garden areas.
• Cleans debris from school grounds, including branches, leaves, and litter to keep areas clean and tidy for students and staff returning in the fall.
• Seasonal grounds workers may also handle the movement of lumber and other materials needed for maintenance or construction projects on school grounds. This duty involves safely transporting, storing, and distributing materials as required.
• Assists in the routine maintenance of HVAC systems by replacing air filters as needed.
• Work may involve the use of mechanical equipment.
• Works from specific instructions and is expected to perform duties independently.
  
  

Work Environment: Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions and includes a variety of temperatures changes due to weather and building needs. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, or climb; and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis; lift 25 to 50 pounds on an occasional basis; and lift and or move 50 to 100 pounds with assistance.

Hourly Rate: $29.50/hour per the Casual Labor Rate Schedule

Shift: Varies. Successful candidates will be willing to work on-call/as needed.

Qualifications/Education And Experience

• One (1) year experience or training in grounds or related fields preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English.
