- Insurance: Substitutes are not eligible for insurance unless they have worked or are anticipated to work at least 630 hours in a school year at which point they will become eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.*

**Emergency Substitute Teacher candidates must first meet with and be recommended by a district administrator**
Emergency Substitute Teachers are community members who substitute teach in classrooms without needing to first complete a teacher preparation program. This "on call" position helps ensure all classes maintain a safe, positive learning environment while the regular teacher is absent. Emergency Substitute Teachers often fill in day-of and with short notice. With Snoqualmie Valley School District as your sponsor, candidates will apply for an Emergency Substitute Certificate with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (valid for up to 2 years). An OSPI application fee will be required.
