Snow College, a student-focused rural residential community college in central Utah, invites qualified candidates with a passion for undergraduate teaching, to apply for a one-year full-time faculty position as an Instructor of History. The position starts in Fall Semester 2025 (August) and is contingent on funding approval. There is the possibility for the position to be converted to a full-time tenure-track faculty role the following academic year, pending a successful review or application. The position will be expected to primarily provide instruction courses in introductory American history and potentially other lower-division history classes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in instruction, institutional service, and student success.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Master’s degree in history required, PhD in history earned by time of employment preferred. American history emphasis preferred.Ability, experience, and qualification to teach engaging introductory courses in American history and other lower-division history courses at the community college level.Ability and experience in engaged learning pedagogies/high impact practices.Be adept in diverse instructional methods (face to face, asynchronous online, interactive video conference).Ability and willingness to teach courses through interactive video conferencing to high school concurrent enrollment students. Highly developed interpersonal skills: ability to be collegial and collaborative with faculty/staff/administration, and respectful and encouraging of students of all backgrounds.Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in oral and written English.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This is a one-year faculty position and includes an excellent benefits package. Commitment to a full-time faculty schedule from mid-August 2024 to mid-May 2025 is required. Compensation for the position will be paid through June 2025. Conversion to a full-time tenure-track Instructor or Assistant Professor position following the 1-year appointment is possible, pending a successful review and/or application.Applications received by 11:59 PM on April 29, 2025, will be eligible for review by the hiring committee.
