Overview:
The Banquet Captain will coordinate banquet events assigned, supervise staff, and implement event policies and procedures.
Essential Functions Include:
- Act as day-of contact for client and guests. Field requests, anticipate guest needs, and quickly make changes or adjustments to ensure successful events.
- Oversee catering and banquet functions individually or as the leader of a team. This person will take pride and accountability in the events they are assigned and their outcomes.
- Supervise set up, preparation, service and tear down of banquet functions.
- Coordinate with kitchen and Banquet Manager on food and equipment pick up, display, service, etc.
- Assigning staff tasks and ensuring proper completion. Conduct pre-meetings prior to each event start.
- Meet safety procedures.
- Constant training and development of staff.
- Evaluation, training, and discipline of employees.
- Relay feedback and ideas to Banquet Manager. Constantly looking to grow, develop, and improve events with intentional and innovative thinking.
- Maintain open communication with management and other employees.
- Be well organized and efficient.
- Two years food and beverage experience in banquets.
- One year supervision experience.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Pleasant and helpful personality.
