Pantry Cook

Description

Reports to: Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, and Chef Tournant  

Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position. 

Classification: Non-Exempt 

 Essential Functions  

 Leadership 

• Promotes a positive kitchen culture. 

Food Preparation  

• Prepares cold menu items such as salads, dressings, appetizers, charcuterie, and garnishes. 
• Assists with preparing food items for other kitchen stations as necessary. 
• Takes inventory of required pantry items and prepares those items for use. 
• Maintains a consistent level of quality, flavor, and presentation according to standards. 
• Follows portioning and garnishing techniques set by the Executive Chef. 

Safety and Sanitation  

• Ensures pantry work areas and equipment are kept clean and sanitary at all times. 
• Follows proper food safety and hygiene procedures. 
• Properly stores and handles food products to maintain freshness and quality. 
• Adheres to local health department regulations and company standards. 
• Ensures all food preparation areas are cleaned and sanitized during and after use. 
• Assists with closing down the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist. 

Other Functions  

• Suggests improvements for pantry procedures and work processes. 
• Communicates effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. 
• Assists with other kitchen duties as assigned by supervisors. 
• Attends meetings and contributes ideas for menu improvements or operational changes. 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 

• High School diploma or GED preferred. 
• A minimum of two years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

Licenses and Special Requirements 

• Food safety certification preferred. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

• Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and twist. 
• Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds. 
• Continuous repetitive motions. 
• Work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment. 
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
