Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters is a local, craft-focused coffee roasting company committed to delivering the finest coffee experience. Our team is passionate about the entire coffee journey, from sourcing high-quality beans to perfecting the roasting process. We are currently looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our roasting team and help us continue to deliver exceptional coffee to our customers.
Position Summary:
The Production Assistant will support the roasting team in all aspects of coffee production, from roasting to packaging. This includes bagging and sealing roasted coffee, labeling products, managing inventory, and ensuring timely and accurate shipping. The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, and has a strong passion for coffee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the roaster in operating and maintaining roasting equipment.
- Prepare and weigh raw coffee beans for roasting.
- Monitor roasting cycles, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Perform quality control checks on roasted beans, including testing for flavor, aroma, and roast profile.
- Bag, seal, and label roasted coffee to prepare for shipping.
- Ensure labels are accurate and meet product and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of production batches, including roasting times, bagging, and labeling details.
- Assist with inventory management, tracking both raw materials and finished products.
- Prepare orders for shipping, including boxing, labeling, and organizing shipments.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of roasting equipment.
- Support other general production and warehouse tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in coffee and the roasting process.
- Previous experience in a production, food, or manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency.
- Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and standing for long periods.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Basic math skills and ability to manage inventory and production records.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods during production tasks.
- Comfortable working in a warm, fast-paced production environment.
