A Day in the Life of:
As a member of our team, you will report to the Director of Camp and Respite. This team member will provide supervision and instruction to camp staff. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Leads, directs, and supervises the staff in providing a therapeutic and safe camp.
- Serves as backup Weekend Respite Supervisor during non-camp months (assist with respite staffing, check in and check out process, and ensures paperwork is accurately completed)
- Hires all camp staff and is active in recruiting process.
- Travels abroad for recruiting fairs when feasible and attends college recruitment fairs.
- Maintains relationships with recruiting organizations and colleges.
- Creates training schedule for 2 weeks of staff training. Coordinates all training with Training Coordinator.
- Assist Director with camp application process, setting session dates, and planning the camp program each year.
- Works directly with Case Management and Director when reviewing and accepting campers into program.
- Communicates effectively with camp families, external case managers, and community partners.
- Ensure completion/monitors staff completions of all required documentation such as on/off duty staff schedule, camper information forms, incident/accident reports, daily documentation and participant notes, and all other documentation as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 4 years of education/experience in related field (rehabilitation, human services, etc.).
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Certifications in Therapeutic Recreation preferred
- Experience supervising or leading teams in volunteer or paid capacity required
- Ability to lead individuals, small groups and large groups of both staff and campers
- Possesses strong organizational skills
- Knowledge and experience working with people with disabilities.
- Medication Administration certified, lifeguard certification (If able) and TOVA certification or ability to attend certification training prior to summer camp.
