What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Cashier position at Soboba Casino?
Summary
The primary purpose of the position is to maintain excellent guest service, to ensure guest satisfaction and a future return. As front-line employees, the Host/Cashier is the director of first impressions. They are expected to provide prompt, courteous, friendly and professional service to all Soboba Casino Resort at all times. They are responsible for maintaining superior quality service for guests. Performing their jobs on a daily basis, they are required to be detailed in every aspect of their work while maintaining an efficient pace. The Host/Cashier will adhere to all rules and guidelines as set to all department employees.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Check reservation book to ensure any special preparations needed are noted and all tasks have been completed.
- Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiter's name
- Use visual cues to seat Guests in dining area depending on their preference
- Inform Guest of current promotion and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff
- Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service
- Manage the flow of Guests into the Dining areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming Guests if appropriate
- Tend to special Guest needs and requests
- Check the daily special, carefully reviewing preparation steps and ingredients.
- Provide an adequate supply of place settings for tables and miscellaneous supplies for work stations to last the duration of shift.
- Adheres to all rules, policies and regulations as stated in the Soboba Casino Employee Handbook
- Provide guests with a fun, friendly, and helpful experience.
- Always works as a team player. Is capable of being cross-trained at the discretion of management.
- Displays knowledge of food and beverage available in outlet. This includes ingredients and manner of preparation for all dishes and other items served in the outlet.
- Displays knowledge of proper food presentation including handling, garnishing and serving of all food items.
- Follow standard department and Casino policies and procedures.
- Keep work stations and inventory stocked and organized performing side work as assigned by supervisor
- Observant to Guests’ needs throughout dining experience to ensure they receive high quality service (i.e. notice a drink refill is needed while seating another Guest and ensuring the drink is refilled prior to getting back to the door).
- Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies
- Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages
- Keep an accurate bank and maintain proper records of transactions throughout daily shift.
- Follow cash handling procedures at all times
- Is willing and capable of following directions from Leadership team at all times
- Is capable of working in a safe and clean manner and reports all unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or takes personal responsibility if supervisor is not immediately available.
- Must be able to work posted scheduled shifts. (Scheduling is based on the needs of the Casino.)
- Other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time.
Education / Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age, or older.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to communicate articulately, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, accurate and reliable; able to multi-task.
- Should be extroverted and enjoy meeting and talking with people.
- Must be professional in appearance and demeanor, with a positive and upbeat attitude.
- Must be a team player who can also prioritize and work with limited supervision.
- Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Certificates, licenses and registration
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
- Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain County of Riverside Food Handlers Card within seven (7) days of date of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TIPS certification (Training for Intervention Procedures).
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certified, or able to obtain certification within 60 days of date of hire.
