Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Associate to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, assist with payroll and utilize Quick Books for issuance of monthly financial statements. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of financial principles.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Corporate Credit Cards finance functions.
- Issuance of AR vouchers or claims for reimbursement to funding sources on a monthly or quarterly basis.
- Assist with processing of biweekly payroll for 35 team members
- Processing of payments/remittances by funding sources and rectifying any discrepancies.
- Recording of vouchers/claims, payments/remittances in the Quick Books Online (QBO) System.
- Follow up with funding sources/payers on past due aged AR balances.
- Resolve billing issues with internal program staff and/or funding source representatives.
- Prepare AR Journal entries and reconcile the accounts receivable account monthly ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with vendors suppliers and professionals to resolve any invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Perform other accounting/finance duties or projects as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with staff and clients throughout the organization, create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Stay updated on technical accounting standards and best practices including payroll to ensure compliance.
Education/Experience
> Minimum of Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Management required.
> Minimum of 2 years of work experience required - non profit experience preferred
> Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and MS Word and MS Excel a plus
> Position must have a current and valid NYS Driver's License.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
- Strong proficiency in journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar platforms.
- Excellent math skills with a solid foundation in financial acumen.
- Knowledge of payroll systems preferred.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet fiscal deadlines.
- Ability to perform technical accounting tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with team members and other departments.
- Ability to learn in a growth oriented environment while working with a collaborative team approach.
