The Sweeney lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Research Scientist with experience in brain slice electrophysiology to work on projects studying the neural circuitry regulating feeding and reproductive behavior in mice. The studies will involve a variety of approaches and tools including brain slice electrophysiology, fiber photometry and Inscopix miniscope calcium imaging, optogenetics, and chemogenetics. The primary goal of the project is to investigate the neural mechanisms mediating increased feeding during lactation in mice.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology, Neurobiology, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline. Candidates close to defending their Ph.D. dissertation will be considered. Experience in brain slice electrophysiology is required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both individually and as part of a team are required. Competitive candidates will have at least one first-author publication.
