The role
SoFi is seeking an Accounting Manager with strong technical accounting experience, along with valuation experience, to join SoFi’s controllership organization. In this role, you will support our growing business and be a key leader primarily by providing technical accounting and valuation-related support for certain Lending activities (e.g., loans, servicing rights, retained interest) and Corporate activities (e.g., equity-related matters and goodwill), as well as broadly support the Company’s accounting policy function.
This position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting & Policy - and will be part of the SEC Reporting & Policy Controllership team.
Your deep understanding of accounting and valuation principles, regulatory requirements, and industry practices will be instrumental in providing timely guidance and documentation in supporting our business partners in transactions, programs, and products.
The right candidate will have technical accounting experience, including underlying valuation principles, across a range of topics, such as lending products / activities, equity and goodwill paired with a background in financial services and / or software and technology. The candidate will also have strong communication skills, including drafting technical accounting / valuation memos and an ability to present relevant considerations to cross-functional audiences.

What you’ll do :
- Provide technical accounting, valuation and procedural support related to our lending related activities (ASC 310, 860, 810, 820 and 825). Support underlying valuation by assessing models utilized and owning related model governance documentation with respect to policies, procedures and standards. Partner with our Lending Accounting team, Capital Markets, Risk teams and other relevant business partners.
- Research complex accounting issues and document technical conclusions, particularly related to equity (ASC 718, 505 and 260), as well as goodwill (ASC 350-20) partnering with our Corporate Accounting team. Additionally lead our goodwill assessments, including supporting the underlying valuation and its related processes - and ensuring effective governance.
- Monitor standard-setting and rule-making activities by the FASB, SEC and other regulators. Support impact assessments and implementation of changes.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures, particularly with respect to the topics noted.
- Support policy function broadly as needed, including new transactions / products and special projects.
- Develop, maintain and update accounting policies.
- Serve as external audit liaison and contact for the year-end annual audit, as well as for internal audit and SOX compliance requests, facilitating effective. communication and collaboration
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support business decision-making through insightful analysis, fostering a culture of teamwork and transparency.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.

Pay range : $99,200.00 - $186,000.00
Payment frequency : Annual
