The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Communications Associate to support SoFi’s corporate and policy communications efforts. The Communications Associate will help drive awareness of SoFi’s mission, business, products and performance through media relations, content development, and strategic storytelling. They will collaborate across our business units, marketing, social, investor relations legal, and policy and government affairs teams to support and execute communication plans and help land consistent and impactful media coverage, and enhance SoFi’s policy communications.
This role requires an understanding and interest in financial services, corporate storytelling, emerging trends across the industry, a keen understanding of the media landscape, and a strong awareness of the public policy environment to help SoFi stand out and fulfill its mission.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.

What you'll do:
- Strategic Communications and Media Relations:
- Support the development and execution of communications strategies that align with SoFi’s mission and business goals.
- Assist in media relations efforts, including researching and maintaining media lists, drafting pitches, and coordinating interviews for both corporate and public policy priorities.
- Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing insights to inform communication strategies.
- Support measurement and reporting efforts by tracking the effectiveness of communication campaigns.
- Draft and edit press materials, executive messaging, blog posts, and other content to amplify SoFi’s corporate campaigns and overall narrative.
- Help manage SoFi’s response to media inquiries and assist in issues management and crisis communications.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure smooth execution of communication initiatives.
- Policy and Government Affairs Support:
- Support the Policy and Government Affairs program in monitoring and sharing in real-time policy-related news that could impact SoFi's business.
- Assist with the development of prep materials such as logistics, talking points, and bios for SoFi executives participating in policy-focused conferences, events, or podcasts.
- Help coordinate and support policy-related events and meetings.
- Lead the development of a weekly
- Assist with timely filings of lobbying disclosures with the House of Representatives and other relevant bodies on behalf of SoFi.
- 2–3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field with exposure to or interest in public policy communications
- Knowledge of the financial tech and finance media landscape, and an understanding of the public policy environment affecting the industry.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and use data and financial performance figures to build accurate and compelling story angles and programming.
- Understanding of media relations and experience working with journalists is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with media monitoring tools and PR software is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
