Crisis Stabilization Counselor (QMHP T/A)
Job Summary
The Crisis Stabilization Counselor provides direct mental health care to non-hospitalized individuals experiencing a mental health crisis that may put their current community living situation at risk. This service provides an emergency response to situations where an individual’s behavior causes a safety concern.
Responsibilities
- · Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a QMHP-A or registered as an LMHP-Resident/Supervisee with experience providing mental health services to adults.
- Provide one-on-one behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis jeopardizing their current placement.
- Initiate and facilitate de-escalation techniques and strategies to assist the client in maintaining self-control.
- Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain client cooperation and resolve conflicts.
- Interact with all clients in accordance with the individual service plan and the therapeutic process.
- Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of the client and others at all times.
- Exercise appropriate intervention in accordance with the least restrictive alternative to hospitalization.
- Coordinate closely with other staff and community partners to ensure the appropriateness of treatment modalities and services being provided.
- Be available for 24 Hour Emergency Crisis Response to assigned participant.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field from an accredited college or university and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to persons with a diagnosis of mental illness;
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an unrelated field that includes at least 15 semester credits (or equivalent) in a human service field and who has at least three years of clinical experience;
- Ability to operate within a wide range of client personalities and backgrounds
- Or a Masters degree in related behavioral healthcare field trained and experienced in providing mental health services to Adults
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Current Tova Certification

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
