Overview & Responsibilities
The Senior Property Accountant will assist in monthly general ledger activity and provide regular support and teamwork with the accounts payable function. They will be a capable communicator, self-starter and open to new challenges.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for Senior Housing communities.
- Record journal entries, including month end accruals.
- Review and record monthly credit card activity.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
- Ensure resident input information is accurate and up to date.
- Assist Controller with budget vs actual variance analyses.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and research reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Accounts Payable support – review invoices for proper coding, prepare allocation for consolidated invoices, and assist with check runs.
- Ensure timely payments of the following: Real estate property taxes, personal property taxes, insurance.
- Prepare sales/use tax calculations and filings.
- Maintain fixed assets sub-ledger and reconcile budget vs. actual for all capital expenditures.
- Cash management and assist with cash flow projections.
- Work closely with Business Office Directors and collaborate with various departments.
- Assist Controller with developing standing operating procedures for Business Office Directors and Property Accountants.
- Special accounting projects as needed.
- This is a remote position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of property accounting experience
- Experience with Yardi Voyager software
- An understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (comfortable with vlookups, sumifs, index, & match functions, basic macros)
- Process-improvement skills; able to identify areas for improvement and implement effective, efficient solutions for a high-growth organization
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
