Qualifications
- Education:
- Master's or Specialist Degree in School Psychology (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution.
- Doctoral degree in School Psychology (preferred but not required).
- Licensure/Certification:
- New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Certificationas a School Psychologist (P-12).
- ValidNew Jersey School Psychologist Licenseissued by theNew Jersey State Board of Examiners.
- Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)credential (preferred, but not required).
- Successful completion ofNew Jersey Criminal Background Checkthrough the New Jersey State Police and the FBI.
- CPR and First Aid Certification(preferred but not required).
- Experience:
- Experience working as a school psychologist in a school setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with504 plans,IEPs, and other educational and behavioral planning tools.
- Knowledge of developmental psychology, educational assessments, and mental health resources.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, educators, and administrators.
- Knowledge of psychological testing, assessment tools, and interventions.

Responsibilities
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments to evaluate students cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing emotional, social, and behavioral issues.
- Develop and implement interventions for students with academic, emotional, or behavioral concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with disabilities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to decision-making regarding student placement and support services.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for students experiencing emotional distress, trauma, or behavioral challenges.
- Promote positive school climate by offering mental health education and wellness programs.
- Serve as a resource for teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student mental health, behavior, and academic performance.
- Participate in school meetings and parent conferences to provide insights on student progress and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, progress reports, and interventions in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed to meet students needs.
- Keep current with best practices in psychology, special education, and school mental health.
