The ideal candidate will be an exceptional relationship builder who can build rapport with individuals from the CEO to subcontractors. In addition, they will be a creative problem solver who can assess situations beyond the ‘obvious’ to resolve the underlying core issues and implement solutions that ‘stick.’ And you’ll be responsible for meeting the many challenges of a robust project portfolio. So, although you’ll have a team of talented peers and a participative manager to brainstorm with, you’ll need to be a self-starter, an independent decision-maker, and well-organized and disciplined in your execution.
Solidus’ Project Managers manage multiple small to mid-size commercial projects ($1M—$5M ) concurrently. The successful candidate will be involved in every phase of the process, from pre-construction meetings through final construction. This position requires traveling (approximately 20%) throughout the territories we serve. Travel expenses are paid and overnight stays out of town are rare.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all phases of construction projects from pre-construction planning to final closeout.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of milestones.
- Create, monitor, and control project budgets, including tracking costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with design intent and project goals.
- Lead and facilitate internal and external project meetings, including site walkthroughs, subcontractor coordination, and owner updates.
- Prepare and manage subcontractor agreements, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
- Ensure all work complies with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintained detailed project documentation on platforms like Smartsheet or Procore.
- Conducted risk assessments and developed proactive solutions to keep the project on track.
- Manage site logistics, including phasing plans for occupied spaces and coordination of trades.
- Drive project quality, ensuring the work meets client expectations and Solidus standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, providing consistent communication and high-level service throughout the project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7-10 years of related experience or a combination of education and training in the construction, architecture, or engineering fields
- Expertise with project management and scheduling software
- Proven track record of managing multiple construction projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout.
- Experience with occupied renovations, ground-up builds, and complex phasing plans.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Procore, or similar).
- Experience creating and managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor scopes.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with architects, engineers, and owners, and resolve field conflicts effectively.
- Familiarity with construction contracts (AIA or similar) and change order management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with clients professionally.
- CM and/or PMP certification is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$80,000 - $110,000/year plus bonuses and benefits.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily an office-based role in a professional office setting at our East Hartford, CT headquarters. The role involves collaboration with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and clients via meetings, phone calls, and emails. Some travel may be required for site visits and client meetings.
