Job Description
Solis Applied Science is seeking a Mid-level Exploitation Specialist – Light Detection and Ranging Imagery Scientist professional with experience focused on providing Imagery Scientist support with expertise and skill in scientifically processing and utilizing LIDAR data, including viewshed and line-of-sight analysis, point cloud manipulation and editing, Z-clipping, slope, hillshade, and aspect analysis, feature digitization, FOPEN analysis, and 3D modeling. Positions are in the Northern Virginia area.
Responsibilities :
Imagery Scientist LIDAR specialists must understand sensor design principles and how they affect sensor performance in this field; be proficient in using ArcGIS (including Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, and preferably LIDAR Analyst), QT Modeler, or other 3D analysis tools; have knowledge of the US Intelligence Community, especially imagery collection and exploitation, and GEOINT's role in intelligence; and have experience working with various national and service intelligence agencies / centers.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Image Science, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Physical Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related engineering / science discipline.
- Proficient in, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in applied image processing and scientific analysis of LIDAR data.
- Extensive experience and expertise in the scientific processing and analysis of LIDAR data, including viewshed / line of sight analysis, point cloud manipulation and editing, Z-clipping, slope, hillshade, aspect analysis, feature digitization, FOPEN analysis, and 3D modeling.
- Experience in the scientific processing of LIDAR data from both civil and commercial imaging systems.
- Knowledge of sensor design principles and how they relate to sensor performance within this field / phenomenology.
- Proficient in using ArcGIS (including Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, and preferably LIDAR Analyst), QT Modeler, and ENVI.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels within the GEOINT Community.
- Proven familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, particularly in imagery collection and exploitation, as well as GEOINT's role in the intelligence mission.
- Experience working collaboratively with various national and service intelligence agencies / centers.
- Knowledge in the tasking of overhead intelligence collection systems.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel.
- Working knowledge in the Windows operating system.
