What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager - Massachusetts (Onsite) position at Solmetex Inc?
SUMMARY
The Operations Manager will plan and oversee the daily operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. They will supervise and coordinate activities of the entire shift of production operators and warehouse personnel using established procedures and policies. They will work to develop core manufacturing processes and practices and participate in a variety of core projects aimed at safety, quality, training, cost reduction, continuous improvement, and organizational development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Payroll Management: Approve timecards, correct errors, manage PTO requests, and address employee inquiries.
- Production Planning: Analyze inventory, forecast supply needs, and create/manage the weekly production schedule.
- Manufacturing Oversight: Ensure production efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction while maintaining and improving SOPs.
- KPI Metrics: Develop, track, and analyze KPIs, create monthly reports, and implement improvement plans.
- 5S & Workplace Organization: Lead 5S initiatives, conduct audits, and train employees to enhance organization and safety.
- Safety Management: Oversee site safety performance, investigate incidents, and implement preventive measures.
- Sales Order Execution: Prioritize daily orders, monitor backlog, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Staffing & Workforce Planning: Forecast workforce needs, recruit, and hire personnel.
- Performance Management: Set goals, conduct evaluations, manage merit increases, and resolve conflicts.
- Cost Control & Efficiency: Optimize labor efficiency, control overtime, and manage scrap, rework, and inventory.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage RMA backlog, ensure invoice accuracy, and oversee sales order fulfillment.
- Decision-Making: Prioritize work, allocate labor effectively, and balance quality with production goals.
- Quality & Compliance: Uphold medical device QMS standards, enforce policies, and ensure audit readiness.
- ERP Utilization: Analyze inventory levels, sales order aging, and production forecasts.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years related operations or manufacturing experience.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role
- Knowledge of 5S, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and manufacturing safety procedures is required (e.g., lock-out/ tag-out, electrical/high-voltage, chemical, reading SDS, incident response procedures)
- A strong working knowledge of manufacturing or ERP systems and data entry and/or collection from such systems is required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
