The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing venipuncture and blood sampling procedures in addition to processing bloodwork to send to quest and Labcorp while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role is crucial in supporting laboratory operations and providing essential services to patients in a clinical environment.
Duties
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling on patients with precision and care.
- Collect, label, process and transport blood specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Ensure patient comfort during the blood draw process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and specimen collection.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures while working in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Assist in the preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis, following proper laboratory techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs as necessary before and after procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and support laboratory operations.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and laboratory procedures related to phlebotomy.
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques and blood sampling methods.
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory environments and standard operating procedures.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to handling patients' needs.
- Ability to perform basic laboratory techniques and understand clinical laboratory workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred but not required.
