Solstice Consulting Group is seeking an Application Engineer (Combustion & Flare Equipment) for an energy-related manufacturing client.
Base salary of $100k - $125k DOE plus 10% bonus opportunity and benefits package
HYBRID ROLE (2 days in office per week after initial 120 days of employment)
3 years of recent experience with flares, combustion equipment , and / or VRUs, etc.
Role can be based in Austin, Houston, Tulsa or Oklahoma City with up to 20% travel
Role Overview :
Provides front-end engineering and estimating support to sales group for standard and custom enclosed combustion equipment opportunities. Products include Enclosed Combustion Units, Thermal Oxidizers, Ground Flares, and ancillary equipment
Responsibilities :
Prepare cost estimates utilizing standard costs, past manufacturing history, engineering specifications, labor hours and rates, material costs, and other technical data
Develop customer proposals, including price, delivery, and supporting documents in accordance with provided specifications and standards guidelines
Familiar with gas line sizing, control valve sizing and Instrument selection.
Ability to understand and interpret local combustion codes
Interfaces with sales team and customers to provide technical support and product knowledge
Prepares change order estimates in conjunction with engineering, shop, and project management.
Familiar with industry standard instrument and valve OEMs with general working knowledge
Working knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, API, and NFPA codes
Consults with fabrication facilities, sub-vendors, engineering, and account managers to determine the accuracy and validity of estimate. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
Proficient in defining, estimating, and understanding instrumentation with or without customer specs / P&ID
Qualifications :
BS in Mechanical or Chemical engineering and 5 years of professional experience
3 years of recent experience with flares and / or combustion equipment required
Experience in BRE Promax or Aspen HYSIS process simulators is a Plus
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications
