We are looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer who loves working in a dynamic environment and is excited to grow with a team around advanced additive technologies. As a mechanical engineer with Solvus Global you will work with team members from many fields (mechanical, controls, software, etc.) to develop the process & procedure, validate the process, and ultimately deploy the process into full production.
As an entry-level mechanical engineer on this team, you will especially be responsible for supporting rapid innovation in design and process development, as well as prototype testing and analysis to ensure that our teams outputs meet our customers’ needs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include contributing to team activities, designing, and executing experiments, mechanical design, analyzing additively manufactured materials via mechanical testing and assisting selection of ideal materials.
Required Attributes & Skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5-7 years of experience in mechanical design, testing, and analysis
- Ability to take & give direction
- Technical mechanical or material experience
- Data entry and handling as well as report writing.
- Hands-on rapid prototyping experience
- Strong understanding of and experience in mechanical design principals, GD&T, DFM, Tolerance analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in CAD, Solidworks, or Fusion360
- Interest, understanding, or experience working in a regulated environment (Aerospace, Medical, ISO9001, AS9100D)
Advantageous Attributes & Skills
- Advanced Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Cold Spray, Welding Engineering, or Additive Manufacturing
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in additive manufacturing and / or mechanical assemblies and motion controls
- Desire to work in a team-based environment
- Experience with mechanical testing (i.e. tensile, wear, bend, shear testing per ASTM standards
- Experience with machining equipment, lathe, mill, CNC
- Background understanding or knowledge of Cold Spray, WAAM, DED, FSAM
- Experience with robotic operation of ABB and FANUC robotic systems
- Understanding of robotic path planning and 3D printing
- Experience with non-destructive and/or destructive evaluation techniques
