Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Key Accounts Manager. This position will lead large, company-wide, integrated project teams (IPT). The IPT’s are responsible for the planning and execution of complex Design-Build or Development-Build projects. To achieve successful completion of new projects, this position requires working in close integration with multiple organizations, both part of the team and outside the team. These typically include: Business Development, Customers, Contracts, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Major Subcontractors, Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management Office, Quality, Finance, Testing, Product Support, Certification and external entities such as Airworthiness Authorities. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the Manager will at all times, model Sonaca North America values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects from proposal stage through completion ensuring compliance of all program requirements
  • Participate in proposal development for projects
  • Prepare complete project plans addressing many factors of manufacturing
  • Control and manage changes and project risks on a continuous and pro-active basis
  • Ensure the preparation of claims and assertions going to customer and support negotiations
  • Ensure smooth transition of project at completion of development phase
  • Prepare summary of lessons-learned and completion of any project completion documentation
  • Manage and direct all project activity so that contractual and technical requirements are met
  • Lead multi-disciplinary location IPT’s, ensuring communication, delegation and integration
  • Manage action items, timelines, resource allocation and progress to project plans
  • Balance Company and Customer needs across all project activities
  • Work with the Program Management Office (PMO) and Finance to track actual cost to budget
  • Participate in and ensure completion of quarterly estimate at completion (EAC) process and reviews
  • Provide project status reports and updates to Senior Management, including recovery plans for any non-compliant aspects
  • May include briefings to Board of Directors
  • Frequent interface with plant General Managers and Site Directors
  • Prepare and lead project reviews at customer locations
  • Serve as primary contact with the customer for coordination of requirements and project performance reporting
  • Ensure that complete customer requirements are provided to Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality and that all activities support project needs
  • Manage team and activities in completing testing, qualification and certification
  • Support and mentor Project Managers
  • Recommend and develop solutions to complex problems to achieve program requirements
  • Recommend and develop new processes and tools with company-wide applicability
  • Lead implementation of new technologies, tools, and/or methods
  • Assist with special projects and participate on process improvement teams as requested

Education And Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Advanced degrees in Engineering, Business or Management are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry as a Program Manager, Project Manager, Lead Engineer or Production Manager.
  • Experience with Project Management tools such as Gantt charts, project scheduling and staffing plans. Experience in multiple disciplines is a plus. Familiarity with manufacturing of complex assemblies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio and CATIA is required. Familiarity with MRP systems and other production scheduling methods required. Ability to quickly learn new and complex systems. Ability to utilize various team management tools.
  • Knowledge of foreign language is helpful.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements. Must be able to promote a participative, team-oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, vendors and others in a professional and respectful manner. Demonstrate attention to detail. Ability to manage time effectively.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical materials and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and vendors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to compile and present data in a format that facilitates information sharing and decision making.
  • Ability to facilitate team improvement activities spanning multiple processes with diverse teams in various geographical areas.
