Deployment Engineer

Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a Deployment/Infrastructure Engineer with critical thinking and effective communication skills to join our system infrastructure as code team responsible for bare-metal and/or containerized deployment of mission-critical, training, and real-time software applications that will be deployed in commercial and/or private environments.

The position will require the potential partner to work on-site in Waterford, CT and may require some travel in support of the project.

What you will be doing:

• Designing, writing, and automating scripts that build and deploy software.
• Authoring and maintaining Docker files.
• Authoring and maintaining Kubernetes deployment files.
• Configuring and monitoring Kubernetes platforms, e.g., OpenShift and AWS EKS.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the deployment of mission-critical military software applications using an Agile development process working alongside developers across the entire stack, from planning through test and sustainment, and working closely with a quality assurance team.

You ideally have a working knowledge of build tools, container technology (Docker and Kubernetes), Windows and Linux operating systems, microservices, networking, and shell scripting. Because this position involves troubleshooting to resolve issues with installing and configuring software, strong technical problem-solving skills are essential.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible for a U.S. DoD Security Clearance*
• Bachelor’s degree in an IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 2 years of related technical experience in IT, Software Development, or DevOps automation

Desired, but not required, qualifications:

• Experience building, managing, scaling and deploying containerized (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) solutions.
• Experience using scripting languages (PowerShell, bash, Python) and tools to automate system administration and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using Git-based toolsets.

• Basic understanding of networking: TCP/IP and application protocols.
• Experience with SELinux.
• Experience with .NET computer programming.
• Experience with logging and metrics collection, and reporting stacks.
• Experience with software testing frameworks.
• Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*
• Active Security or equivalent certification(s).

*Obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance involves a comprehensive background check.  Candidates are eligible for a clearance if they have demonstrated sound financial management (including good credit) over time, are free of criminal records, have limited foreign contacts or ties, and other factors indicative of a position of trust to protect information sensitive to the U.S. Government.
