Description
We are looking for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record of developing successful products that are not only aesthetically exceptional but also ultra-reliable and efficient to manufacture. This role requires expertise in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and a deep understanding of various production, assembly, and finishing processes.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical engineering of premium loudspeaker products from concept to production.
- Utilize SolidWorks to develop detailed 3D and 2D designs.
- Engineer products with a strong focus on DFM, ensuring efficient, cost-effective manufacturing.
- Design and integrate components using injection molding, die-casting, metal fabrication, woodworking, metal forming, metal stamping, and multi-axis machining/routing.
- Develop finishing specifications for various materials, including metals, plastics, and wood, ensuring high-quality surface treatments.
- Work with painting, powder-coating, anodizing, and other finishing processes to enhance product durability and aesthetics.
- Develop product solutions that will stand the test of time in indoor, outdoor, and marine environments.
- Collaborate with vendors and in-house teams to ensure repeatable, high-quality finishes that meet both functional and visual design requirements.
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and aesthetic standards.
- Fabricate, construct, and maintain proof-of-concept samples, mock-ups, and prototypes.
- Assist in product testing as needed throughout the development process.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development.
- Proven experience engineering products that have performed well in the market.
- Expertise in SolidWorks (CSWP or CSWE or equivalent required).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Loudspeakers and Audio a huge plus.
- Deep understanding of various manufacturing methods, materials, and assembly techniques.
- Strong knowledge of finishing processes, including painting, powder-coating, anodizing, plating, and wood finishing.
- Experience with on-shore and off-shore manufacturing.
- Ability to generate toolpaths for CNC machining and operate a CNC is preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience with UL Listing and Certification is a big plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced R&D and production environment.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including acoustical engineers, custom design engineers, and manufacturing teams.
- Knowledge of the residential, professional, and marine custom integration markets is a big plus.
- Familiarity with building construction materials and techniques is a big plus.
