Cutting Machine Operator-in-Training - Swing Shift

Wage: $18.00/hr. $1.00/hr. Shift Differential for Swing Shift or $1.50/hr. Shift Differential for Graveyard (Sign-On Bonus Eligible Paid Lunch)
Shift MAY rotate between Swing Shift and Graveyard Shift depending on needs of the department and/or organization. Applicants MUST be available to work both Swing Shift and Graveyard.
Swing Shift Schedule: Mon-Fri 2PM - 10PM; Graveyard Shift Schedule: Sun - Fri 10PM - 6AM
What you will be doing:
As a Cutting Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the set-up and cutting process of the machine – as quickly as possible – while maintain the quality of the product.
Essential Functions Include:
- Follow make-ready procedures on every job and work with pre-make ready person on jobs to double team make-readies whenever possible.
- Manage all records pertaining to each job run including chase, gripper margin, tonnage, cut count, run speed, and special instructions.
- Read schedule to determine run order of jobs, ensuring supplies are in house or have been ordered. Read job bags to determine customer requirements and load material into feeder, make-ready on die cutting, unload cut sheets or cartons.
- Maintain quality of cut/crease and proper registration throughout run, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Work closely with managers and leads, advising them of any problems that may arise. Ensure all jobs ready to run are approved by supervisor/lead before running and perform all other duties as required by management.
- Maintains safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Keep work area neat, clean, and free of hazards.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with all operators through shift transitions. Responsible for clean and organized shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High School diploma or equivalent with six (6 months) experience with hands-on mechanical skills
- Cutting experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal communication.
- Ability to communicate timely with coworkers and supervisor in order to know which jobs to run throughout the day.
- Learn to trouble shoot problems and do preventive maintenance as needed.
Salary : $18 - $20
