SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the janitor is to ensure a clean, sanitary and safe environment inside and outside the facility. This involves routine cleaning to align with the companys standards. This role is crucial in creating an organized and welcoming environment for employees, customers, vendors, and visitors. Work is performed under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures the facility is consistently clean and free from dirt, dust, debris, and waste; this includes but is not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, scouring, and wiping down surfaces.
- Spot clean the interior of refrigerators in the lunch/breakrooms; wipe down exterior of appliances
- Maintains sanitary conditions by cleaning high-touch areas such as doorknobs and restrooms by using disinfectants and cleaning agents to help reduce the spread of germs, bacteria and viruses.
- Thoroughly cleans restrooms; this includes but is not limited to emptying, cleaning and sanitizing trash and sanitary napkin receptacles; cleaning and disinfecting toilets, urinals, basins and faucets, and countertops; wiping down mirrors and structural walls to ensure they are free of handprints, splashes, and/or marks.
- Empties all trash receptacles and moving to collection point; replaces liners as necessary.
- Restocks materials and supplies in restrooms; testing all battery-operated dispensers for battery life and replacing batteries when needed.
- Helps keep the premises safe by promptly addressing safety hazards such as spills or obstructions.
- Tidies, straightens and organizes materials in the lunch/breakrooms and front office area.
- Ensures that cleaning supplies and equipment are stocked, well-maintained, and ready and available for use when needed.
- Machine scrubs all ceramic tile and concrete flooring in designated areas on a quarterly basis.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Follows safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with company policies, practices and values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Strips and finishes all vinyl flooring in designated areas in accordance with schedule on an annual basis.
- Uses carpet cleaning machine, clean all carpeted areas in accordance with schedule on an annual basis.
- Cleans interior and exterior office windows, and partition glass on an annual basis.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Continuously stand and walk
- Frequently bend and twist at the head, neck and waist
- Frequently stoop, squat, kneel, and reach
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. on a rare basis.
- Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Frequently use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Occasionally climb and work from stairs and ladders.
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
- Sufficient vision which permits the employee to review and read documents and other job-related information, and observe signage in the plant
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical working conditions are exposed to moderate noise but at times may be exposed to loud and excessive noise
- Temperatures within the plant are generally moderate; however, an incumbent in this class may occasionally be exposed to temperatures that are significantly warm or cold
- An incumbent in this class may be exposed to dirt, dust, and debris
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Proper cleaning methods and different types of cleaning products
- Safe handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals to prevent accidents or harm
- Proper use of personal protection equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and masks when handling harsh chemicals or cleaning high-risk areas
- Slip and fall prevention and techniques
- Sanitation and disinfection protocols
SKILL AND ABILITY TO:
- Have a high level of attention to detail to ensure work is completed correctly, satisfactorily, and safely.
- Identify cleaning problems such as stains, spots, and odors, and know how to properly address them.
- Maintain organization of tools and products that are used.
- Solve minor equipment problems and know when to report them.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting production and other departments to meet department and plant goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
