The general schedule for this position after training is complete is Monday to Friday 6:00 PM to 2:00 PM

• Please note that a person in this role may have to work outside of regularly scheduled hours depending on the organization's needs.

WAGE: $17.50/hr. (Sign-On Bonus Eligible Paid Lunch)

This position works as both a Material Handler and a Load Stripper.

SUMMARY:

The Material Handler is critical to helping maintain the efficiencies of the die department and is responsible for moving paper loads with a pallet jack and using the aerator machine to remove defects.

A Load Stripper has several duties and responsibilities that ensure that the finishing department can run at full efficiency. The main responsibility is to strip the paper waste from the cartons. While this sounds simple, it is actually quite challenging. Handling 30lb air hammer for the majority of the day is no small feat. This is a physical job where you are constantly on the move. The stripper also needs to be constantly communicating and paying attention to the schedule, so they ensure they are stripping the most critical jobs. The stripper generally works alone and is self-motivated to consistently work hard. The stripper takes pride in knowing that they are helping the finishing department to increase efficiencies so our customers can receive their product quickly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions (Material Handler) Include:

• Relieve the pre-make ready person and put stripping boards together after they are cut on the Gerber, and cork dies.
• Relieve Baler Operator when needed and band all make ready for stock for the recycler.
• Recycles all paper and cardboard by placing them in their proper containers.
• Pre, aerate, and stage loads for the cutting and printing departments as directed.
• Remove defects and sort areas from the loads.
• Band loads for outside processing and complete paperwork as necessary.
• Assures and maintains safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
• Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct,
• Performs other duties as directed by management.
• Essential part of the position to not be a direct threat to the health or safety of yourself, others, or property. Defined as significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.

Essential Functions (Load Stripper) Include:

• Stripping loads, sorting defects hand pack/assembly and quality assurance.
• Review production schedule and prepare loads for the production run using jackhammer.
• Ensure all loads are broken down and properly loaded on pallet.
• Using an electric pallet jack,
• stage jobs to be run, ensure item numbers, job numbers and specification numbers are correct with order numbers.
• Check for sort tags or defects on loads.
• Cleaning up area after a job is completed-pick up scrap, change our scrap cart if running different board.

Essential duties for both role(s):

• Ensure and maintain safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance; must be able to work overtime when department and/or company needs arise and/or be on call as directed by managements.
• Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with company policies, practices and values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
• Previous manufacturing experience is always a plus but not required.
• Relevant job experience for at least three (3) months
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively
• Learn to trouble shoot problems and do preventive maintenance as needed.
• Ability to work as a team player and be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
