The Grant Accountant will perform professional accounting tasks related to the recording and reporting of financial transactions and budgetary oversight for assigned funds and departments. This position is responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints, and supporting the organization's financial operations, including grants and expenditures.
Responsibilities :
Billing & Claims Management :
Generate and process monthly billing for all payment sources, ensuring timely submission and accurate record-keeping.
Prepare monthly claims for government entities and other outside agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
Handle other government claims and ensure timely, accurate submissions in line with deadlines. Financial Reporting & Analysis :
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual financial reports for internal use and for submission to government and external funding sources.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and analyses of financial positions and budget variances.
Support the preparation of audit reports, specifically related to budget and grant statements and analyses.
Ensure all financial reconciliations are completed prior to auditor fieldwork and assist auditors during their analysis process. Budget Monitoring & Compliance :
Track and monitor expenditures to ensure they stay within approved budgets, particularly related to grants and funding sources.
Assist in the analysis of budgetary variances and provide insights for corrective actions when necessary. Operational Support :
Assist in day-to-day fiscal operations, including general accounting duties and financial report preparation.
Generate various related reports as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Cross-train with other staff to provide operational support as required, ensuring smooth departmental functions. Collaboration & Communication :
Collaborate with co-workers and management to ensure financial processes are executed efficiently and deadlines are met.
Maintain a professional, cooperative attitude and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the public and government agencies.
Exhibit strong communication skills to convey financial information clearly to diverse audiences, both orally and in writing. General Administrative Support :
Maintain a neat and secure work environment, ensuring that all financial records and sensitive files are properly handled and stored.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to meeting deadlines and completing work assignments independently.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or Associate's degree (A.A.S.) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution; or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 3 years of paid experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related financial role (Junior Accountant or Bookkeeper).
Hands-on experience with automated accounting systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Compensation : $75,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
