Sonos is seeking an experienced and visionary Creative Director of Writing to lead our storytelling and written content strategy. This role will partner with cross-functional teams-including Marketing, Product, Design, and Brand-to craft compelling narratives that communicate our brand values, showcase product innovations, and engage audiences across all touchpoints.
What You'll Do:- Strategic Content Leadership
Develop and own a forward-thinking writing strategy that aligns with brand objectives, target audience, and product roadmap.
Set the overall tone, style, and voice for the brand to ensure consistency and impact across all written materials.
Use data-driven insights to inform content decisions and measure the effectiveness of storytelling efforts.
Team Management & Collaboration
Lead and mentor a team of copywriters and content specialists, providing creative direction and feedback to elevate the quality of all written content.
Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, designers and producers to ensure messaging cohesion across diverse media formats.
Partner with senior leaders and functional and regional stakeholders to translate high-level goals into storytelling opportunities and creative campaigns.
Brand & Product Narratives
Drive innovative storytelling techniques to highlight product features, usability, and benefits to both B2C and B2B audiences.
Create comprehensive brand narratives that resonate with our tech-forward Professional audience, in addition to our target consumer audience.
Ensure all written content-product descriptions, ad copy, website text, packaging, social campaigns-adheres to brand guidelines and meets project objectives.
Innovation & Industry Awareness
Stay abreast of emerging technology, consumer behavior, and cultural trends to keep the brand's voice fresh and relevant.
Leverage new platforms and writing styles (e.g., conversational AI, AR/VR interfaces) to experiment and push creative boundaries and find efficiencies.
Advocate for continuous improvement of the content process and explore new ways to captivate audiences.
Quality Control & Performance Metrics
Establish a rigorous editorial review process to maintain impeccable standards for grammar, style, and factual accuracy.
Use data and performance metrics (engagement, conversion, sentiment analysis, etc.) to evaluate campaign success and inform future strategy.
Maintain a network of external writing resources (freelancers, agencies) as needed to scale content production.
What You'll Need:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
8 years of experience in copywriting, editorial, or content development, with experience in a leadership role within a creative or marketing environment.
Proven track record of developing influential content strategies for premium or technology-focused brands.

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:
$154,000 and $171,500Please note that compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
