Psychiatric Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Technician to join our mental health care team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing care, assistance, and therapeutic support in a structured environment. This position requires a strong commitment to patient welfare and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

Duties

• Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Monitor patient behavior and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff or mental health professionals.
• Facilitate therapeutic group activities and engage patients in meaningful conversations to promote emotional well-being.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients by adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures.
• Document patient progress and interactions accurately in electronic health records.
• Support crisis intervention efforts as needed, employing de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in mental health or psychiatric care are preferred.
• Previous experience working in a psychiatric or mental health setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
• Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities is a plus.
• Must be able to pass background checks and any required pre-employment screenings.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $54.00 - $56.00 per hour
