POSITION BRIEF:
The Inventory Coordinator reports to the Special Projects Manager and is responsible for accurately analyzing, reconciling, and maintaining inventory records. This role requires regular coordination with the yard, physical verification of pipe counts, and strict adherence to safety regulations while working in the yard environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain all assigned third-party yard inventory records each month and conduct physical counts of pipe inventory to verify accuracy against Sooner’s inventory records.
- Identify and report any inventory discrepancies to the Reconciliation Group, Accounts Payable, Sales, and the Yard team.
- Coordinate with the yard personnel to investigate and correct differences, including performing on-site inspections and recounts as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation is secured and maintained for all reconciliation activities, including corrections and adjustments to Sooner’s records.
- Accurately post inventory changes in Oracle, including: Location transfers, Purchase orders, Shipments and receipts, Condition changes (e.g., coating, end finish), Other inventory-related modifications.
- Conduct frequent audits to identify and resolve discrepancies throughout the month, ensuring records reflect physical inventory accurately.
- Monitor and track missing rail cars in transit to the yards, working with the logistics team to locate and resolve issues.
- Support the Traffic Coordinator’s responsibilities during their absence, including after-hours and weekend on-call coverage.
- Actively participate in year-end and periodic physical inventory counts, which include hands-on counting and verification of pipe and other materials in the yard.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures while working in the yard, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe handling practices for pipe and heavy materials.
- Regularly communicate with yard personnel to ensure accurate labeling, organization, and safe storage of inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous inventory experience, including physical inventory counting in an industrial or yard setting
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with inventory management systems
- Commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of safety procedures related to yard operations
Preferred:
- College degree
- Oracle ERP experience
- Previous experience handling tubular goods or working in a pipe yard environment
