Special Education Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistant to join our team at Soquel Union Elementary School District. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to provide individualized instructional programs and behavioral support in various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement behavior support plans and discrete trial teaching techniques for students with intensive behavioral needs.
• Assist certified teachers with modifying and adapting individual schedules, communication systems, and instructional materials.
• Collect and analyze data under the direction of certified staff to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience working with children in a special education environment.
• A valid California driver's license and automobile insurance coverage that conforms to California state law.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to lift, bend, feed, and support the toileting of children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
