The Director of Operations for a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and Financial Marketing Organization (FMO) will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operational functions within the firm. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, financial expertise, and a strong ability to streamline processes, manage resources, and ensure that all operational activities align with the company’s strategic goals. The Director of Operations will collaborate closely with senior leadership, compliance, and finance teams to ensure efficient and effective service delivery for clients, advisors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities : Operational Leadership :
- Oversee and manage the operational workflows across various departments to ensure optimal efficiency, productivity, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and improve operational processes, systems, and infrastructure to support the firm's growth and scalability.
- Monitor and evaluate key operational metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance and reduce inefficiencies.
Compliance and Risk Management :
Work closely with the compliance department to ensure all operations are in line with industry regulations and standards (SEC, FINRA, state regulations).Ensure the firm’s operational processes minimize risk and maintain a strong compliance posture.Oversee the management and resolution of any operational or client-related issues in a timely and compliant manner.Team Leadership and Development :
Lead, manage, and mentor the operations team to ensure they are aligned with the firm’s goals and culture.Provide ongoing training and development to enhance team performance, promoting cross-functional collaboration.Foster a positive and inclusive work environment while ensuring high levels of team engagement and productivity.Technology and Systems Management :
Evaluate and implement technological solutions and platforms that enhance operational efficiency and support the firm’s business objectives.Work closely with the IT department and third-party vendors to ensure smooth integration and continuous improvement of software, CRM systems, and data management tools.Stay current on technological advancements and industry best practices to drive innovation within the firm.Financial Operations :
Work alongside the finance team to support the firm’s financial planning, reporting, and budgeting processes.Ensure operational costs are controlled, and that financial resources are allocated effectively to support business growth.Collaborate on forecasting, budget management, and financial reporting to ensure operational decisions align with financial goals.Client and Advisor Relationship Management :
Maintain strong relationships with financial advisors, ensuring their needs are met with the highest level of service.Provide strategic support to advisors, helping them grow their practices and enhance client relationships.Handle escalated client or advisor issues and work towards resolution with attention to detail and professionalism.Requirements : Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or related field; MBA or relevantcertifications
preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations management, preferably within the RIA, FMO,financial services, or wealth management industry.
Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving operational excellence.In-depth knowledge of financial planning processes, advisor platforms, and wealth managementsystems.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements affecting RIAs, FMOs, and financialfirms.
Familiarity with CRM platforms, portfolio management tools, and other financial technologysolutions.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact withboth internal and external stakeholders.
