Sourcechange is representing a private equity-backed Independent Power Producer in North America on their search for a Director of Origination for their Distributed Generation team. The Role
The Director of Origination will be a pivotal member of the Origination team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Origination. This role is responsible for identifying and securing mid-stage, late-stage, or greenfield distributed generation opportunities, encompassing both solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Director will leverage an established network and collaborate with internal teams to drive these opportunities from inception through acquisition or direct development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement outreach strategies for all products and technologies under development, ensuring alignment with key customer messaging.
- Research and identify new origination prospects in target markets, focusing on behind-the-meter solar, front-of-the-meter solar (including community solar), battery storage, fleet electrification, and related areas.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFPs) from investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, commercial and industrial customers, universities, and other entities.
- Assist in negotiating letters of intent (LOIs), power purchase agreements (PPAs), leases, and other definitive agreements.
- Collaborate with Technical Sales, Financial Structuring, and other departments to develop project models and proposals, facilitating the progression of awarded projects to capital committee approval and closing.
- Maintain comprehensive records of submitted proposals and pricing models.
- Stay informed about target market policies, upcoming policy changes, market risks, opportunities, competitors, and potential new channel partners.
