The Company
Our partner, a market-leading IPP (developer, owner, and operator) of renewable energy projects is seeking a Director of Project Finance. The company has grown significantly over the past years, with a strong capital position and a portfolio that includes 1GW of projects entering construction in the next 3-4 years. The project finance team plays a key role in executing financing strategies to support continued expansion.
The Role
The Director of Project Finance will be responsible for structuring, negotiating, and executing project and corporate financing transactions. This includes construction financing, tax equity deals, and pre-NTP structured financings. The role requires a balance of strategic decision-making and hands-on execution, with a strong focus on financial modeling, investor engagement, and transaction management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring and execution of project finance transactions, including construction financing, tax equity, and structured debt.
- Manage investor and lender relationships, acting as a primary point of contact for financial institutions.
- Develop and refine financial models to support financing proposals and transaction execution.
- Oversee transaction processes from origination to close, ensuring smooth execution of deal structures.
- Work closely with internal teams, including legal, development, and asset management, to align financing with broader company objectives.
- Support strategic decision-making on investor selection, transaction structures, and funding strategies.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, ensuring strong execution across all financing activities.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in project finance, structured finance, or investment banking, preferably within infrastructure or renewable energy.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to assess and refine complex project finance models.
- Experience negotiating financing agreements and managing investor relations.
- Ability to oversee and execute financing transactions with minimal oversight.
- Strong process management skills, ensuring transactions move efficiently from negotiation to funding.
- Experience within renewable energy, particularly community solar, is beneficial but not required.
