Position Title:
Principal Public Procurement Training Executive
Salary Range:
Grade 13, exempt, $93,128.25 - $130,379.53 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for generating revenue by representing Sourcewell’s enterprise solutions. This position is directly responsible for reaching profit and margin goals by developing strong relationships with public agencies and delivering subject matter expertise related to the procurement lifecycle. This position will be actively involved in mentoring external public procurement officials and presenting information at public events. This person will serve as a mentor and trainer to others in the team and will represent Government Accounts at internal and external meetings.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a strategic plan to achieve P&L goals for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Research and understand enterprise solutions and be familiar with function and purpose to confidently expand awareness of Sourcewell solutions.
  • Conduct thorough research on market trends, competitor activities, and participants' unique needs to proficiently address inquiries and concerns.
  • Research and have a complex understanding of government structure and legal requirements of public agencies and ensure all training materials and sessions align with public procurement laws, regulations and policies.
  • Independently responsible for creating a business strategy to engage stakeholders and government partners.
  • Define clear objectives setting SMART goals that align with the organization and business units’ vision and mission.
  • Engage stakeholders including senior management and external partners to ensure buy-in and alignment.
  • Build financial planning and budgeting by allocating resources effectively to support initiatives and ensure optimal return on investment.
  • Project future financial performance based on trends, market conditions and initiatives.
  • Anticipate potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact to P&L goals.
2. Develop, implement and facilitate comprehensive training programs tailored to fit the needs of public procurement officials.
  • Conduct a needs assessment through surveys, interviews and focus groups with procurement officials to understand their needs.
  • Develop or identify and prioritize content related to new public procurement officials.
  • Organize the content into logical and sequential modules that facilitate progressive learning.
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
  • Plan training sessions at times and locations to maximize attendance and participation.
  • Conduct interactive workshops, seminars and sessions that encourage participant engagement and hands on learning, using technology, where appropriate.
  • Continuously update and refine the training program based on evaluation results and emerging needs.
3. Manages interactions with participating agencies and stakeholders
  • Respond to phone, email and chat inquiries in accordance with service level delivery standards.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with public procurement officials to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to present procurement related contented for attendees and serve a subject matter expert.
  • Proficiently delivers educational presentations and training.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings and lead strategic initiatives for bundled Sourcewell solutions.
  • Manage government to government partnerships.
  • Proficiently manage relationships with industry consultants, associations, and publications.
4. Serves as a mentor and trainer.
  • Provides training, guidance and mentorship to internal and external teams.
  • Provides training presentations when needed and on behalf of other Enterprise Solution teams.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study AND five (5) years of experience in the public procurement profession, or other directly related experience, OR
  • A combination of related post-secondary and/or professional education/training and demonstrated relevant work experience equivalent to a total of nine (9) years.
  • Five (5) years of public speaking and/or presentation experience
  • Business process and operational knowledge in supply chain, and/or procurement
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a related field of study Seven (7) years of experience in public procurement.
  • Six (6) years of public speaking or presentation experience
  • Six (6) or more years of business process and supply chain and/or procurement

  • This is a remote position, and is subject to Sourcewell's telecommuting policies and procedures.
  • On occasion may be expected to attend meetings or trainings at Sourcewell's headquarters in Staples, MN, advance notice would be given to team member.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
