Are you a recent graduate looking to gain auditing experience, or someone in search of a new career? The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is hiring a professional auditor to conduct compliance audits of County DSN Boards and contracted service providers.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Professional Auditor, you will be a member of an Internal Audit team and assist in the completion of assigned tasks that support audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow up. The Professional Auditor will work effectively as part of a team, while also successfully executing independent assignments.
- Documents processes via narratives or flowcharts to identify top risks. Identifies key controls within a process and assists in the development of audit procedures designed to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of those internal controls.
- Executes and/or assists audit team members in the performance of audit procedures/test steps and the accurate documentation of the related work papers to support conclusions reached.
- Develops test conclusions and drafts findings and recommendations for inclusion in the audit report. Participates in exit conference.
- Perform follow-up procedures for assigned action plans.
- Continuously develops knowledge of audit tools and techniques to ensure quality audit work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position is located at the Central Office in Columbia, South Carolina; however, in-state overnight travel may be required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
An associate degree and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the work experience.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the principles, practices and theories of accounting and auditing.
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting and financial data to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Ability to document and communicate audit results effectively.
Strong time and project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships; effective listening skills.
