Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina: Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

- Under limited supervision, supervises repair of heavy trucks and heavy equipment belonging to SCDC and other city, county, and state agencies.
- Inspects diesel powered vehicles and heavy equipment to assess and assign the repair and/or maintenance.
- Inspects quality of work performed and corrects any problems.
- Supervises the parts and inventory system to ensure accountability and compliance with agency policies.
- Supervises technical data in state fleet's South Carolina equipment management information system and ensures compliance.
- Supervises and oversees a continuous preventive maintenance for heavy diesel vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure systematic checks.
- Monitors expenditures and approves requisitions.
- Provides appropriates training for skilled trades subordinates and inmate workers.
- Oversees and provides an on call 24-hour emergency recovery service for the agency's vehicles to include trucks and buses.

- A bachelor's degree.
- Three (3) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment;
- An associate degree.
- Five (5) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment;
- A high school diploma.
- Seven (7) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment.
