Vehicle Maint. Supervisor (#015022) Vehicle Maintenance, Columbia (RICHLAND)

• Under limited supervision, supervises repair of heavy trucks and heavy equipment belonging to SCDC and other city, county, and state agencies.
• Inspects diesel powered vehicles and heavy equipment to assess and assign the repair and/or maintenance. 
• Inspects quality of work performed and corrects any problems.  
• Supervises the parts and inventory system to ensure accountability and compliance with agency policies.  
• Supervises technical data in state fleet's South Carolina equipment management information system and ensures compliance. 
• Supervises and oversees a continuous preventive maintenance for heavy diesel vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure systematic checks. 
• Monitors expenditures and approves requisitions.   
• Provides appropriates training for skilled trades subordinates and inmate workers. 
• Oversees and provides an on call 24-hour emergency recovery service for the agency's vehicles to include trucks and buses.    

State of South Carolina: Minimum Requirements:                                              
 High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment.                                                                    
                                                                           


SCDC Minimum Requirements: 
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A bachelor's degree. 
• Three (3) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment;

 OR

• An associate degree. 
• Five (5) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment;

OR

• A high school diploma.
• Seven (7) years of extensive experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks and heavy equipment.  

Must be skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment.
