As a JDC Auditor you will conduct fair and objective field audits of books, records, and tax returns of companies that qualify for tax credits under the Enterprise Zone Act of 1995. You will encourage compliance by educating taxpayers and helping to ensure tax equity for all South Carolina taxpayers.
Primary Job Duties Include
- Reviewing and conducting audits of Job Development Tax Credits.
- Researching and providing audit documentation to include taxpayer friendly language and documentation for all points of issue within the audit.
- Preparing and presenting audit findings clearly to the taxpayer, taxpayer representative, and any interested SCDOR personnel.
- Preparing technical audit reports, which include a detail of the basis and justification for adjustments proposed to the taxpayer's liability.
- Participating in local education seminars or other speaking engagements on an occasional basis.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses OR
- A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis OR
- An associate’s degree and three years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis
Additional Requirement
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for field work.

- Training: JDC Auditors will participate in a training program to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to successfully perform their job.
- Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
- Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
