RECRUITER / FAMILY FINDER

Full time position based out of the Columbia, SC, office and will report to the Director of Foster Home Development and Operations. The South Carolina Youth Advocate Program (SCYAP) is seeking a positive, dynamic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual, who will be responsible for recruitment strategies and initiatives for the company’s foster care program, focusing on the recruitment activities to find families for special needs children throughout the state of South Carolina; working with diverse communities and prior foster care recruitment experience are a plus. The Recruiter / Family Finder will develop and implement recruiting and tracking strategies and tools to attract new families and will work closely with them to meet and maintain training certification and licensure requirements. Position will facilitate networking and marketing events to recruit applicants; present speaking engagements and public appearances in community events and meetings; establish relationships and maintains contact with community resources, public officials, other professional providers and agencies in the public and private sectors (i.e., schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, service groups, and other resources deemed appropriate) that can partner with the organization in recruiting foster families; ensure a smooth transition of potential foster parents from recruitment to the inquiry and application process; provide regular reports on statistics measuring the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and on pipeline activity. Position must be able to meet target-based goals on a strict timeline.
Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in human services or public relations preferred. Knowledge of foster care rules and services, and experience working with youth in out-of-home care preferred. Must have the ability to comfortably speak to individuals, and to large and small groups, regarding the organization and its foster care program. Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills. Must be sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences and needs of SCYAP’s service population. Recruiters must be self-starters with an abundance of enthusiasm and creativity. The preferred candidate will be persistent at following up leads and making cold calls, and be readily available to work nights and weekends; some overnight trips will be necessary. Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with appropriate levels of automobile insurance. Salary/benefits; pay dependent on experience and education.
